Today we’ll combine a bit of optional exercise with some serious craft brew sampling, exploring Dunedin’s Beermuda Triangle. Beer lovers rejoice!
Morning round at Dunedin Golf Club (8am – 12pm)
If golf is your forte, you could start the day with a coffee to-go and an easy round on the pristine Dunedin golf course, aiming for an 8:00/9:00 am tee time — if you’re not feeling too crispy from Shephard’s, that is. Once you’ve finished up, you want to meet up with any late risers in your crew to head for lunch.
Late breakfast/Lunch at Clear Sky Draught Haus, Dunedin (1 – 2:30)
Haul an Uber or Lyft back to Clear Sky Draught Haus (or just Haus for short). Go for their scrumptious Dyn-O-Mite Shrimp drizzled with sweet soy followed by the sticky rice Korean Short Rib, or sample the Lobster Mac & Cheese making for a great foundation for drinking.
Beer Crawl & BBQ in Dunedin (2:30 – 4:30pm)
There, now you’re all set to seize the day! Soggy Bottom Brewery is just in front of Haus, so it makes sense to start there. This quirky-cool brewpub is run by three long-time local bartenders, applying their mixology skills on some forward-thinking brews.
You also have Woodright Brewing Co. with their bespoke wooden interior and “no fluff, just straightforward beer” approach, 7venth Sun Brewing Company known for their Florida Weisse and for flirting with tropical and citrus flavors, the inviting Cueni Brewing Co. (pronounced Q-knee) with a collection of award-winning brews, and Dunedin House of Beer with no less than 40 brews on tap (!) – all within walking distance. Pick a couple and then head for lunch.
Snack at Eli’s Bar-B-Que (4:30 – 5:30pm)
If you feel like soaking up the beer with some protein and something starchy, head over to the award-winning Eli’s Bar-B-Que for some no frills ribs, pulled pork and mahoosive pickles (They are only open on Friday and Saturday’s, so be sure to make it if you’re in Dunedin on either of these days.)
Continue pub crawl (5:30 – 8pm)
Once you are done, return to your pub crawl! There’s still Caledonia Brewing, situated in the historic Dunedin Times building, well worth checking out for their 20-something beers. And over on Douglas Ave, just off Main Street, there’s of course The Dunedin Brewery boasting with the title ‘Florida’s oldest microbrewery’. There you have it, folks!
Dinner at Crown & Bull (8 – 9:30pm)
Crown & Bull is something of a landmark eatery—this cool joint has been around for a few decades already and offers a great atmosphere with live music and locally sourced Floridian grub. Try a fresh watermelon salad and coconut curry mussels before tucking into more serious business, like the Ossu Bucco or The Beast Burger.
Hangout at Blur Nightclub (9:30 – end)
After dinner, head over to Blur Nightclub to cap off the day with some live music (everything from hip-hop to karaoke), and potentially some drag queen bingo. Check their upcoming events on Facebook.
